If you’re dog obsessed then you know that it’s not a holiday without your best mate. Here are the best dog friendly spots to make your next road trip the ultimate dog friendly getaway.

It’s safe to say that dogs in Sydney already lead a pretty charmed life, especially those pampered poodle crosses in the Inner West. So, it’ll come as no surprise that your best mate has just as much right as their humans to put up their paws and unwind for the hustle and bustle of the local dog park. But for anyone that’s tried to find somewhere to take their dog on a (well-deserved) mini-vacay, it’s really not as easy as you’d think (can we get an Amen?!)

Luckily for you guys we’ve scoured the darkest depths of Airbnb to find properties that are actually dog friendly. As for what makes a holiday house actually dog friendly? Let us tell you. We’re talking South Coast properties that let your dog actually stay in the house with you, and ones that accept all breeds great and small—not just well behaved, selected small breeds, and FYI guys, only one dog is allowed.

So, buckle up team because you, the crew and your BFF are headed down the famous NSW South Coast. Because if you’re anything like our dog obsessed crew, your pooch is fam, and fam don’t let fam sleep outside.

Kiama

Kiama Surprise

If stargazing, a fireplace and quintessential Aussie veranda are all on your hit list then look no further than (the aptly named) Kiama Surprise. Combining beach and country into the one chillaxed weekend away, this 3-bedroom country cottage is a human, and most importantly, a pup’s dream.

Berry

The Shed at Broger's End

A self-proclaimed haven for human and pooches alike, this eco-friendly choice is one for the ‘gram. This converted shed was transformed using both recycled and reclaimed materials, and as if that wasn’t enough it’s even set amongst permaculture gardens (we know), meaning your pooch can have a side of sustainability with their tummy rub.

Jervis Bay

Lolita's at Jervis Bay

A place for all puppers and their humans, the recently renovated Lolita’s at Jervis Bay is located in the quiet town of Sanctuary Point, in amongst some of the best beaches in NSW. With dog treats on arrival and even a cheeky toy (don’t ruin the surprise), this dog friendly pad sleeps up to 8 humans meaning you can bring the whole crew.

Number 5 Beach House

Number 5 Beach House at Callala Beach has a pet friendly yard (to allow for ample off lead good times) and is the perfect cosy accommodation for a getaway down the South Coast. The real winner here is the brand spanking new veranda, we’ll forgive you should you waste a cheeky arvo or two just hanging with your pooch.

The Shack at Myola

What was once a fisherman’s cottage, The Shack at Myola is now a dog-friendly Airbnb. With a fenced off yard (priorities) and walking distance to some of the most picturesque spots in the area you’ll absolutely want to stay a while.

My Little Beach Shack

We’re sensing a trend and willing to call it, that when it comes to decent dog-friendly accommodation the word “shack” means you’re on to a good thing. My Little Beach Shack on Culburra beach is bright, airy and surrounded by ample grass because we all know it’s a dog’s life and we’re just living in it.
