The day has finally come to make like Joyce Byers (don’t tell us you haven’t watched Stranger Things yet...) and have at it with an insanely epic installation of coloured lights. The interactive space—filled with trees, light and music actually responds to people walking through it— and will take over Usyd’s iconic Courtyard (the resident waterhole for skipping lectures) for this entire week. In other words, run, don’t walk to the University of Sydney.
Artist and Sydney Uni student, Antony Youssef, has gone and created this damn fine exhibition which is inspired by Vivid and Hobart’s Dark Mofo, so you know it’s going to be good. The artwork is called Organism and it uses technology to highlight how punters like yourself are seemingly removed from the environment and forget the magic mundanities of everyday life.
You’ll basically be able to make your way through the exhibition with different types of trees responding to your mere human presence. We know, pretty friggin’ awesome. Some trees make use of sensors and coloured lights, others can receive text messages from you and some can be triggered by water to kick-off animations. For more deets, jump right here.
The Details:
What: Organism by Antony Youssef When: Monday 13 until Friday 17 August, 4-7pm Where: Courtyard Restaurant & Bar, Science Road, University of Sydney, Camperdown
