The temperature has officially truly dropped this week and we are very ready to embrace all the wonders of the great indoors. That is, hefty bowls of pasta, truffle shavings on everything and—one of winter’s greatest marvels—mulled wine.
Also known as gluhwein and vin chaud, winter wouldn't be the same without this fragrant, boozy European beverage and luckily, there's a heap of Sydney bars perfecting their mulled wine brew right now so you can enjoy a piping hot cup of the good stuff tonight.
Bundle up, here's a list of the best spots to sip mulled wine this winter.
The Doss House
The Rocks
The Doss House might be one of the coziest bars in Sydney. Hidden in a historic sandstone basement in The Rocks that, just casually, used to be an opium den, The Doss House is a place for serious whisky, tasty cheese and charcuterie. In winter, it's also a brilliant fireside spot for mulled wine (made with red wine, fresh orange, star anise and cloves). Being a whisky bar, you also need to try their hot toddy.
