Big, big news. The world’s largest touring collection of Banksy’s works is locked to open in Sydney this year so clear your calendars.
Yep, The Art Of Banksy showcases 80 original works (technically not authorised by the artist, rather curated by his old manager and photographer, Steve Lazarides) associated with pretty much the most talked about artist in recent history. The exhibition will display a number of privately owned pieces of the mysterious Banky’s works and include canvasses, screen prints and sculptures.
You’ll be in for pieces he created from the late 90s to late noughties, the period which resulted in Banky’s most recognisable and well-known works so brace yourself for Girl With Red Balloon, Flower Thrower and Rude Copper.
If you’ve missed the hype, Banksy (whose identity still remains one of the world’s biggest secret) is one if the most enigmatic street artists and outspoken but veiled political activists. His graffiti-influenced stencil technique, often combined with anti-establishment slogans, is super recognisable around the globe and never fails to generate immediate attention and controversy.
