Sydney, the dates are locked in so start clearing those calendars. A traditional lantern parade led by a moon goddess is planned for Cabramatta’s 2019 Moon Festival and that’s not all you need to get excited about. Marking the day of the year when daylight and darkness are equal in length, the Moon Festival is celebrated by South-East Asian countries but here, it calls for a whole lot of mooncake (traditional pastries filled with red bean or lotus seed paste). It's the 21st Moon Festival to happen around these parts so expect an epic slew of antics to get around like prawn peeling and noodle eating competitions.
The traditional moon blowout will also be jam-packed with authentic street food stalls, live entertainment, vibrant costumes, rides, activities and fireworks. More details are set to drop soon so stay tuned here.
