Whether you’re well and truly back on the clock, or if you’re using up the last of your precious vacation days this week—there’s plenty to do in Sydney. Think bushfire appeals involving tasty French feeds, an early screening of the Jane Goodall documentary and a must-see play about a special slice of Aussie history.

Here are five awesome things to do this week.

All Week

Weekday Specials At The Glenmore

Locally-loved rooftop bar, The Glenmore, is pulling out all the stops this summer with food and drink specials worth celebrating. We’re talking rooftop bar vibes with local pub prices. Head in on Monday for $13.90 steaks all day with any drink purchase. Or on the newly christened "Two Hand Tuesdays", where you can grab a house drink and any item from the Two Hands menu for just $22. Yep, for just $22 you can enjoy their tempura prawn tacos or their chicken tinga tacos with an ice-cold beer while taking in the breathtaking 360-degree harbour views from one of Sydney’s best rooftop bars.

When: All week Where: The Glenmore, The Rocks

BUSHFIRE APPEAL AT LOLUK BISTRO

If you were planning a date night or a summer evening catch up with mates this week—make it count at one of the many Sydney restaurants donating proceeds to those impacted by the devastating fires tearing through the country right now. Surry Hills’ most adorable French spot, Loluk Bistro will donate $1 from every single customer in January to the absolute heroes at the NSW Rural Fire Service. For more bushfire appeals, check our list here

When: All week Where: Loluk Bistro, Surry Hills

Monday 20 January

Encore Screening Of Jane

For your documentary dose this week, head to the encore screening of Jane—a film that tells the story of the iconic Jane Goodall’s early explorations and research in Tanzania, focusing on her groundbreaking fieldwork, her relationship with her cameraman and husband Hugo van Lawick, and the chimpanzees that were the subject of her study. Head over here to grab your tickets.   When: Monday 20 January, 7pm – 8:30pm Where: Palace Central Cinemas, Broadway

Tuesday 21 January

Black Cockatoo

You might not love cricket quite as much as Scott Morrison — but this play, centred on a small but mighty slice of cricket history, is absolutely worth an inning of your time. Back in 1868, a group of 13 First Nations men from country Victoria became the first Australian cricket team to tour England. They represented a nation that refused to acknowledge their rights or their humanity—for another century. But of course, the story is more complex than it seems.

A collaboration between iconic screenwriter Geoffrey Atherden and award-winning director Wesley Enoch, Black Cockatoo, performed by an all indigenous cast, is a story split between the present and the past and is a funny, moving piece of theatre that draws out the essence of sport in the Aussie psyche: resilience, resistance and inspiration. There’s also a spot of audience participation involved, so grab yourself a ticket. Tickets are available here.     When: Tuesday through to Sunday evenings Where: Ensemble Theatre, Kirribilli

Wednesday 22 January

Kath and Kim Trivia

Newtown's beloved Courthouse Hotel hosted a Kath and Kim trivia night earlier this month and, naturally, the event sold out because who doesn't want to prove they know the exact dollar amount of Kim's overdue DVD fines, the name of Kel's favourite author, or Kath's AFL team? It's back this week by popular demand, so fire up Netflix, re-watch all four seasons and get set to brush up on all things Sharon, Kel, Kath and Kim. This one will sell out, so book your spot right here

When: Wednesday 22 January, from 7.30pm Where: The Courthouse, Newtown

Need more ideas? Here's where you can enjoy bottomless dumplings on a koala rooftop, and here's an insane ball-pit party hitting Sydney this weekend.
