When the temperature starts to drop, summer’s over and the whole world’s gone a bit crazy, there’s really nothing better than a big bowl of noodle soup.
And while Sydney is stacked with great ramen options to cure all that ails you—we’ve just found a limited-edition, one-week-only ramen deal guaranteed to lift your spirits and soothe your soul.
For just five days, Potts Point’s serene, minimalist izakaya Cho Cho San will be dishing out bowls of double pork shoyu ramen paired with a drink of your choice for just $30.
If you’re a regular at Cho Cho San, you’ll know that ramen is not a standard feature on the menu. Head Chef Max Smith wanted to ring in ramen season with a one-off limited-edition menu—but who knows, if it’s a big hit, maybe ramen will become a permanent feature.
Smith’s ramen is a 14-hour double pork shoyu broth with black pepper and dashi. It’s then layered with fresh ramen noodles made by a local Japanese noodle specialist, Balangalow pork loin with Koji, Pork XO, soft cooked soy egg, wood ear mushrooms, leek and green shallot.
For a few extra pennies, you can add extra noodles, pork, miso corn or organic eggs rolled in togarashi.
Drinks on offer include a seasonal Chu-Hi highball, Stone and Wood Green Coast lager or Kikumasamune Junmai sake.
Cho Cho San's ramen week deal will be available to walk-ins only, and only while the ramen lasts—so get in early!
