Keep Up To Date With This Rolling List Of Cancelled And Postponed Events Across NSW

Last week the Federal Government made the call to ban non-essential mass gathering’s of 500 people or more, causing a sling of big events across NSW to be cancelled or postponed indefinitely.

These gigs have been interrupted due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and we expect more cancellations to come.

We’ll be updating this article as news of gigs, festivals and major events across NSW come in. These are troubling times for our arts, culture and music industries—according to ilostmygig, a new site set up to count the economic damage to the industry—across the last 48 hours some 20,000 gigs have been cancelled, which has meant a huge $47 million in lost income. ilostmygig has set up a playlist featuring artists’ whose gigs have recently been called off:

Here are all the events that have been cancelled or postponed across Sydney and NSW so far.

Sydney Events

Ocean Lovers Festival

March 18 – March 22

Has been cancelled (including Sea Science At Bondi Icebergs) until 2021.

The Other Art Fair

March 19

Has been postponed, new plans and dates for ticketholders to come.

Sydney Opera House

Until March 29

Sydney Opera House has announced the cancellation of all public performances, commencing until March 29. The venue will reevaluate based on the latest health advice and developments in the evolving COVID-19 situation.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 

May 11 - 15

Has been cancelled. The iconic fashion event will return in 2021 to celebrate its 25th anniversary. As was the plan for this year, some runway shows in 2021 will be ticketed for the first time—meaning you can sit front row with the fashion editors and influencers. 

Tim Minchin Comedy Show

March 20

National tour has been cancelled.

The National

24 and 25 March

The band has postponed all Australia and New Zealand tour dates. Both Sydney shows will now be held on Thursday 10 December. The announcement from the band is here

Download Festival 

March 21

Has been cancelled entirely, all ticket purchasers to the Download Sydney 2020 events will receive a full refund including booking and payment processing fees.

Craft Drinks Market

March 22

Has been postponed, all ticket holders will be fully refunded.

Sydney Royal Easter Show

April 3 – April 14

Has been cancelled entirely, a number of measures to deal with ticket and entry fee refunds are set to be implemented in the coming days.

The Festival Of Dangerous Ideas

April 3 – April 5

Has been cancelled. Refunds will be issued to ticket buyers.

Sydney Writers Festival

April 27 – May 3

Has also suspended further ticket sales, may cancel further events pending advice from health authorities. Ticketholders will be contacted for reimbursement if needed.

Vivid Sydney

May 22 – June 13

Has been cancelled until 2021.

Opera Australia

Various Dates

Carmen, Attila and Great Opera have been postponed until March 28.

NSW Events

Fisher Beach Party Tour

April 4

Has been postponed, new dates will be announced for ticketholders soon. 

Byron’s Bluesfest

April 9 – April 16

Has been cancelled, more details for ticketholders to come.

Groovin’ The Moo

APRIL 24 – MAY 9

Has been cancelled, ticket holders can hold onto tickets for the GTM 2021 or receive a complete refund. 

Splendour In The Grass

July 24 – July 26

Event has been rescheduled to take place Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October at North Byron Parkland. If ticket holders can’t attend the new set of dates, they can apply for a refund via Moshtix.
