In major news for your long weekend, The Australian Ballet has just dropped a series of totally free online adult ballet classes. The iconic company is the latest in a long list of studios, trainers, gyms and yogis now offering virtual sweat sessions to keep us trim (and sane) during self-isolation.

The Australian Ballet has always held adult studio classes through its HQ in Melbourne, but this will be the first time Sydney can hit the barre and skill up on pliés, pirouettes, attitude, barre and sauté under the guidance of some of the country's best ballet professionals.

Never tried ballet before? No worries—classes are super-inclusive and all levels are welcome. Plus, you'll be dancing at home when no one's watching, so no need for stage fright!

Taught by former ballerina, Justine Miles, classes are pre-recorded and designed for participants to follow along with at home and offer a choice of beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Classes run for 30-40 minutes, and a new class at every level will be released each week.

“Ballet is a wonderful way of staying fit,” Australian Ballet Artistic Director David McAllister said. “You will be able to join these free classes in the privacy of your own home and have the benefit of being taught the right techniques from a trained professional. Your kitchen bench or just a chair can serve as a makeshift barre.”

What are you waiting for? Grab those ballet shoes or go barefoot. Classes are available here
